Abstract

Underlife-sized marble female portrait discovered in Kafr El-Sheikh, H. 11 cm (Figs. 1a-g). Previously, the portrait was kept in the Storeroom of Tell el-Fara’in (‘Mound of the Pharaohs’- ancient Buto), in the Central Delta to the northwest of Kafr El-Sheikh, but was moved later to the display galleries of Kafr El-Sheikh's museum. The portrait was discovered inside a house at Kafr-Magar village, Desouk district, in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. For an unknown purpose, the head was said to be used as a support for the house's door.
