Abstract

The present study aims at publishing 7 demotic ostraca from Medinet Habu now kept in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. This collection is a part of the Oriental Institute’s 1929-30 season of excavation at Medinet Habu[1] which started in 1924 under the supervision of James Henry Breasted and continued until 1933 as the whole site was excavated[2] as Lichtheim [3] published 160 pieces. The texts deal with NHb and Poll tax receipts from the Ptolemaic and Roman periods. From the internal evidence as the handwriting and known scribes and taxpayers, the study could determine the date of each text.
